Implementation of CAE at UDC: A Pioneer Approach

Abstract:

This paper describes the initiation and implementation of Computer Aided Engineering at the department of electrical engineering of the University of the District of Columbia, using state-of-the-art APOLLO workstations networked with low cost personnal computers. A novel approach of networking allowing an effective use of a highly sophisticated CAE software is presented. Design file transfer procedures are outlined and discussed. The limitations and advantages of the network are also highlighted and future expansion schemes are sketched.
