Abstract:

This paper gives a brief overview of Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP) systems. We attempt to examine some of the representational problems specifically associated with production rules and address the resolution of the problems by an alternate form of knowledge representation i.e. frames. We conclude that frames are clearly the better choice for representing knowledge in CAPP applications.
