by Gregg Nicholas, Univ of Wyoming, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: University Programs in Computer-Aided Engineering, Design, and Manufacturing

Abstract:

Currently at the University of Wyoming a research project is under way to investigate methods of reducing the portability problem in software design. The project entails a general functional analysis of three graphics systems, X Windows, Graphical Kernal System (GKS), and MetaWindow. After reviewing the three graphics environments a case study will be performed involving the porting of an existing software application between different environment and graphics packages (GPs).
