Abstract:

ASCE embarked on a new standards activity by the Design Loads for Structures During Construction Standards Committee. The objective of the effort is the development of standard guidelines for performance criteria, design loads, load combinations and safety factors to be used in the design and checking of building structures during their transient stages of construction, as well as of temporary structures. The paper presents the background, objectives and scope of the activity as well as the organization and plans of the Committee.
