Load and Resistance Factor Design for Engineered Wood Construction

by James R. Goodman, Data Management Inc, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Structural Design, Analysis and Testing

Abstract:

The wood industry has provided sponsorship for the development of a reliability-based, load and resistance factor design specification for engineered wood structures. This user-tested, designer-oriented specification utilizes past developments of a task committee of the ASCE Committee on Wood and will incorporate new data and reliability-based design developments for wood-based structures. A progress report is presented encompassing the development involving both the structural behavior of wood-based systems and material property data bases which support the specification. Efforts of the project team charged with the specification development are described and plans for completing and implementing the specification are presented.
