Abstract:
Construction of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, which will cross the Akashi Kaikyo Straits with a shore-to-shore of approximately 4 km, started in spring of 1988. Firstly discussions on the wind load for this super long span suspension bridge are reviewed. Then the interpretation of wind tunnel testings to verify its aerodynamic stability is discussed.
