Abstract:

Test on partially prestressed members with bonded Post-Tensioning started recently. Experimental information regarding partially prestressed members having unbonded post-tensioning is very limited. In this paper, an attempt is made to study the cracking and ultimate strength behavior of simply supported beams having partial prestressing of unbonded type. Further investigation will be extended to find an optimum combination of prestressing and reinforcing steel. Eight beams were tested to failure in the first phase of this investigation. Test results are reported with specific conclusions and recommendations for future design provisions and code revisions.
