Abstract:

The formulation of a three-dimensional model based on p-version finite element method for the elastic buckling analysis of unsymmetrical thin-walled members under axial compression and flexure is considered. A number of test cases are presented and the results of the present study are compared with experimental results and those obtained by other methods including the finite strip method, Ojalvo's theory, and recommendations in SSRC Guide.
