Abstract:

Trends in recent development of steel spatial structures in Japan are reviewed. Starting from reviewing early development after the World War II, structural systems such as pyramidal roof, stress-adjusted structures and space frames which have recently been favorably adopted by Japanese engineers and architects are explained. Constructional considerations given not only in erection phase but also in design of structures are illustrated.
