Abstract:

A Limit State analysis technique has been developed for evaluating the structural capacity of lattice steel electrical transmission towers. The tower strength is determined by using a piecewise linear matrix method which takes into account individual member postbuckling performance. Validity of the analysis was checked by two full scale tower tests. This paper correlates test data with analysis and draws conclusions.
