Abstract:

In earlier years, the primary method for repairing steel flexural members was to replace the member. However, with the cost of labor and material increasing dramatically over the last 30 years combined with the development of innovative structural configurations, repair of damaged structural steel has become a viable alternative. This paper summarizes the available repair methods for steel flexural members with emphasis on new developments. included is a guide to the methodology, applicability, and effectiveness of various methods.
