Abstract:

The objective of this presentation is to compare benefit-cost ratios for major highway construction projects to those for highway safety projects, such as: (1) new highways, (2) major widening, (3) major geometric improvements in horizontal alinement, vertical alignment, and roadway cross section, (4) major pavement rehabilitation, (5) highway interchanges, (6) major intersection improvements, and (7) highway-railroad grade separation.
