Part of: Engineering, Construction, and Operations in Space

Abstract:

This paper is written from the viewpoint of Engineering Technical Managers interested in applying automation tools to the building process. Engineering, Construction and Operations in space is an extremely complex task with many unknowns. It will involve many diverse players during the life cycle of a project which may extend over a long period of time. There will be many people interested in all decisions and results; more than one project team can manage unless an Integrated Data Base (IDB) is used. As the title implies, the paper's thrust is to show the connection between three separate abstractions with the purpose of arriving at a conclusion about the importance of and need for the Integrated Data Base in the building process.
