Abstract:

The probabilistic relations of an elemental rainfall - runoff process are analyzed. The elemental process is defined as runoff from a uniformly sloping impervious plane due to uniform rainfall of constant intensity. Both theoretical and experimental results are presented showing the effects of the runoff plane physical characteristics and the rainfall probabilistic structure on the probability distribution of peak discharge.
