Abstract:

This paper focuses on the task of formulating and implementing a viable plan for protecting an existing gas main located in a construction site where construction activities include excavation, sheet and foundation pile driving and placement of concrete. The paper describes the construction environment, the system and equipment employed to monitor vibrations and deformations of the gas main, measured behavior of the gas main, conclusions and recommendations.
