Abstract:

This paper describes a reliability procedure that can handle certain classes of random functions and qualitative categorical variables. The method is an extension of the R. Rackwitz-B. Fiessler (RF) procedure and is based on local linearization of the limit state surface, which is expressed in terms of the additive 'effects' of the random functions and the categorical variables on the response of the system.
