Abstract:

Serviceability and failure limit states are computed using the Simple Plastic Theory (SPT) as well as with a Nonlinear Structural Analysis Program (NSAP). Geometric and material nonlinearities ae included in the analysis. Limit states are drawn in load space and point estimates of probabilities of failure are computed by integration of the joint probability density functions of applied loads in the failure regions. Effect of geometric and material nonlinearities on structural reliability and serviceability is studied.
