Abstract:

In order to perform useful vulnerability and risk evaluations, it is essential to have at one's disposal an automatic procedure of elaboration which provides answers in real time as soon as data become available. Such a procedure has been formulated. It starts from the vulnerability indices and presents its results in the form of dynamic maps, i.e. thematic maps, typically drawn on a color display and therefore easily and quickly changed. In its current version, the procedure is formulated for use on a personal computer of the IBM-AT type. The procedure has so far been applied to a few small towns in Central Italy, and in previous papers several examples of the maps have already been published.
