Abstract:

A response spectrum approach to approximate the maximum response of nonclassically damped structural systems is presented. The maximum response is expressed in terms of the sine spectrum, that is identical to the pseudo-velocity spectrum, and the cosine spectrum, that can be constructed in approximation from the sine spectrum. Numerical examples indicate that the approach is quite reasonable.
