Impact of International Competition on Construction Technology?A Perspective

by Daniel W. Halpin, Purdue Univ, West Lafayette, IN, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Impact of International Competitiveness on Construction Technology

Abstract:

The strong showing by non-U. S. contractors in the development of new construction technologies has had a significant impact on the redistribution of construction dollars in world markets. It appears to be tied to philosophical differences in how construction is viewed both from a market structure perspective as well as from a market penetration point of view. The U. S. is lagging behind other industrialized countries in developing new construction technologies and physical construction systems.
