Abstract:

This paper reviews the necessary studies and major considerations that must be completed for proper coordination and selection of a turbine governor, and generator. A discussion of the importance of turbine generator flywheel effect (WR//2) for isolated operation and the turbine gate timing is presented. A data sheet is presented which lists necessary parameters that the owner must consider when developing the objectives for a Governed Hydro Station.
