This paper explains conceptual methods of reinforcing and lining the section of the existing tunnel downstream of the three control gates to the exit portal and bifurcation for the power plant. The final design has to be approved by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. Methods to be explained in the paper include: 1) Grouted steel lining, 2) Reinforced steel cage covered by shot crete, then shot crete covered with chopped fiberglass and epoxy; 3) Consolidated grouting of the rock surrounding existing concrete lining; 4) Fiberglass pipe lining; 5) New tunnel parallel to existing tunnel.
