Abstract:

Based on the testing results of 20 full size shells and models, the ultimate load analysis method is proposed to design four different kinds of reinforced concrete shallow shell structures. In the proposed method, the effects due to the changes in the geometry of the shell have been discussed. The studies showed that these changes must be considered while the deflections of the shell are relatively large. The comparison shows the close correlation between the experimental data and the theoretical results. The shell structures designed by the proposed method have been widely used as a roof system for years.
