Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Dynamics of Structures

Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to present a unified approach to reliability-based structural optimization. The emphasis is placed on recent developments in the field including optimal design of nondeterministic structural systems for minimum weight and global reliability, optimal design considering both serviceability and ultimate limit states, and multi-objective reliability-based optimization. Based on these developments, conclusions are drawn regarding future needs.
