Abstract:

The second edition of the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) TR-55, published in June 1986, introduces a new method for calculating the time of concentration for storm runoff flowing through the small watersheds. The method divides runoff into three flow conditions, i. e. , sheet flow, shallow concentrated flow and channel flow. This study makes a comparison between the two TR-55 time of concentration methods, especially for the travel time methods of overland flow and sheet flow. An example of calculating the travel time for four different land types with three different slopes and three different flow distances is used.
