Abstract:

Selected results of a regional synthetic unit hydrograph study are presented. Using the gamma function to approximate the SCS curvilinear unit hydrograph, peak rate factors were determined for three urban watersheds. The results indicate the peak rate value varies with urbanization and drainage system improvements. A geomorphologic method for estimating the gamma function shape parameter was tested to better understand the effect of the drainage network on the watershed hydrologic response.
