Abstract:

This paper presents a discussion of the development of the Denver Area Real Time System which will be used to regulate the Denver reservoir system on a real-time basis. Its main components are: an automated data acquisition system, the SSARR model for predicting runoff from rainfall and snowmelt, the HEC-5 model to simulate the operation of the Corps' reservoirs, and the Hydrologic Engineering Center's Data Storage System and associated Water Control Software to assist in the analysis and display of real-time information and forecasts.
