Abstract:

Using the Geomorphologic Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph (GIUH) and via the convolution transformation, a linear discharge hydrograph prediction model is obtained. Infiltration in streams is represented with a linear function of surface runoff; equals an infiltration coefficient multiplied by the streamflow discharge. Two problems are addressed; (1) estimation of the infiltration coefficient, and (2) estimation of the surface runoff velocity. Analysis of these problems are carried out through applications for two gauged watersheds in Saudi Arabia. A comparison between predicted and observed hydrographs, for representative storms, is presented.
