Abstract:

The Illinois Urban Drainage Area Simulator (ILLUDAS) was developed at the Illinois State Water Survey in 1969 and has been available for use on mainframe computers since 1974. An enhanced version of the model designed for use on micro computers was released in 1985. The continued popularity of the model is due in part to the simplicity of its internal functions. The user does not feel that he or she is using a black box approach to urban drainage design. The micro version maintains the same theoretical approach of the mainframe version but has additional features. An interactive 'front end' has been added to make data entry and modification much easier. Additional options are also available to assist with the incorporation of detention basins into the design. A post processor provides output, including hydrographs, in report format.
