Abstract:
The closest thing to a mathematical function that maps well discharge to drawdown has been Jacob's equation, caled the step-drawdown equation. However, this equation assumes the drawdown to be only a function of discharge when it is also a function of time. The senior author has suggested a more general multivariate function but there are several forms this could take. This paper examines two of these forms and evaluates them with actual data using split sampling.
