Three-Dimensional Modeling of Estuarine Circulation and Contaminant Transport

by Y. Peter Sheng, Univ of Florida, Gainesville, FL, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Hydraulic Engineering

Abstract:

The conjunctive use of optimal grid and the generalized 3-D hydrodynamic model allows accurate and efficient simulation of realistic estuarine circulation and transport problems. Sheng (1986) provided a comprehensive review of many existing numerical hydrodynamic models in terms of a number of salient physical and numerical features. This paper presents further advancements of the 3-D hydrodynamic model. In addition to a brief discussion on the model formulation, some practical model applications will be presented.
