Abstract:

Advances in mathematical modeling in the mid-1970's have led to accurate modeling of discharge and energy loss characteristics of long-throated flumes. A complex long-throated flume was designed and constructed in the Croke Canal in Colorado. The flume measures a discharge range of 5 cfs (0. 14 cms) to 1000 cfs (28. 3 cms). The flume was designed using the dimensions determined by the mathematical model.
