Abstract:

This paper investigates the possibility of using air regulated siphons as outlets from irrigation canals. Although a solution to a specific problem is sought, it is recognized that the applications are various. A suitable siphon design was evolved by testing 1/5 scale, two dimensional models in a 0. 384 m wide flume. Eleven different model configurations were examined and performance characteristics studied. From these head-discharge relationships are proposed and some general observations made.
