Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Planning, Operation, Rehabilitation and Automation of Irrigation Water Delivery Systems

Abstract:

The delivery of irrigation water to farmers from irrigation districts vary considerably from one project to another. A number of delivery schedules have been identified according to the way in which the rate, frequency and duration of delivery are determined and according to the degree of central versus local control. The factors which influence delivery schedule selection are presented. It is suggested that more flexible schedules allow for better management of farm resources. Capacities requirements for the different schedules are presented with examples.
