Abstract:

Knowledge of key physical and engineering properties of coal fly ash is needed in the planning, design, and construction of both disposal and utilization projects. While considerable data concerning the properties of fly ash has been generated, it is not easily accessible. Engineers working with fly ash are faced with not having information on what values and range of values are typical for physical and engineering properties. To provide a better understanding of the typical values and range of values for key fly ash physical and engineering properties, a data base of values was compiled from published and unpublished sources. Data on 131 Class F fly ash samples and 26 Class C fly ash samples were included. The data base was analyzed to determine typical values and the range of values for key physical and engineering parameters.
