Abstract:

The present article deals with the analysis of the influence of the different Ondarroa Harbour extensions on the adjacent beaches by using a semi-movable model test. These model tests were carried out after the completion of a wave disturbance model study. Since an undistorted fixed bed model was already built, a semi-movable model technique was found to be the most adequate tool for a beach equilibrium study. Even though these kind of studies should be regarded in a qualitative way, an effort has been made to analize the influence of the various parameters involved in the model test. Three bed materials were used in the model in order to compare the different behaviours. A deep study of the wave-induced current circulation was found to be relevant to ascertain the singular influence of the various breakwater extensions on the coastal dynamics.
