Abstract:

The most prevalent type of grant projects funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) through the Florida Coastal Management Program were management-related plans. The second most prevalent category is environmental information research, followed by implementation of plans and public education projects. During the first five years of the Florida Program the issues of focus have been coastal hazards, port maintenance, and special areas management. The authors conclude that a reasonable balance of solutions has been accomplished.
