Part of: The Mexico Earthquakes?1985: Factors Involved and Lessons Learned

Abstract:

Effects on the transportation and communications infrastructure due to the earthquakes of September 19 and 20 are described and analyzed. It can be concluded that these effects were actually moderate, and this can be explained through the earthquakes characteristics but damages could be more severe in future events with different characteristics. For this reason some research trends are proposed.
