Abstract:

We stand within sight of the day when our reserves of fossils fuel will be inadequate to maintain the type of energy inefficient cities we have grown used to. This exercise in urban planning proposes that the facilities needed for working, living and playing be clustered together into compact, partially domed, heavily sheltered structures. Various uses, such as office space, can be wrapped around uses needing no window, such as warehouses. Parking can be placed beneath these buildings, and apartments above. These buildings can then be clustered together in ities sheltered from the wind.
