Abstract:

An analytical model is suggested in this paper. The model is based on the continuity equation of water mass within the reservoir, a broad-crested weir discharge formula and a velocity power law for breach erosion. Depending on the values of certain parameters, the resulting equations can be either linear or nonlinear. Solutions are presented for rectangular and triangular breach cross sections.
