Abstract:

The renewed interest in the use of chlorine dioxide and ozone as preoxidants has focused mainly on their effectiveness on color and THM precursor removal and as disinfectants. This paper presents the results of recent bench and pilot-scale evaluations of the use of chlorine dioxide and ozone and preoxidants on several different surface water supplies. The test data were analyzed to determine the impact of the preoxidants on the various treatment processes and on the finished water quality.
