A Field Study of Water Movement Through Clay Liners

by Carol J. Miller, Wayne State Univ, Detroit, MI, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Environmental Engineering

Abstract:

A monitoring system has been designed for the field verification of a numerical model of water movement through the cover clay liner of hazardous waste landfills. The most unique aspect of the design is that it enables evaluation of changes in moisture content throughout the liner system, in addition to tracking bulk water movement. The system design and monitoring instrumentation are discussed in detail. The present design is compared to previous attempts at field verification.
