Integrating Infrastructure Planning with Master Planning: A Review of Concepts and Methods

by Norbert Oppenheim, City Coll, New York, NY, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Infrastructure for Urban Growth

Abstract:

The concept of urban master planning is reviewed in introduction. Next, the nature of the interrelationships between infrastructure elements, other physical elements, and urban activities is discussed. Using the example of planning for a municipal parking garage in a medium sized, hypothetical city, a framework for the integration of infrastructure planning with urban (or regional) master planning is then suggested, based on the common planning process.
