Abstract:

This paper describes the adaptation of the regionwide travel forecasting models developed for the Orlando Urban Area Transportation Study (OUATS) for application at the subregion and subarea level. A major advantage of the micro-model is that it takes the same basic socio-economic data as is required for the regional OUATS model, but requires the analyst to deal with only 120 zones compared to over 500. This makes data manipulation and network coding much more manageable and comprehensible. The development of socio-economic data sets and network link data files is further facilitated by the use of database management software on the micro.
