by Kenneth R. Broome, Williams & Broome Inc, Exton, PA, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Innovative Powerhouse Designs

Abstract:

Following an account of the need for such an approach, the PowerBarge hydroelectric plant design concept is described as a fully floating system consisting of an Intake Barge, Siphon Penstock, and Turbine-Generator Barge suitable for location at existing low-head dams. Unit capacities can range from 100 KW up to 3000 KW. The concept is compatible with any standard axial flow turbine coupled to a standard speed increaser and generator that are installed either inside of outside the water passage.
