Abstract:

A brief review of iron- and steel-making processes is background for the development of shapes and codes. Sources of information for the condition assessment of iron and steel buildings are old catalogs and books describing shapes and systems. Repair and rehabilitation techniques are noted. Possible areas of research to aid in the evaluation and rehabilitation of buildings are presented.
