by G. Oplatka, Swiss Federal Inst of Technology, Zurich, Inst of Lightweight, Structures & Ropeways, Zurich,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Automated People Movers: Engineering and Management in Major Activity Centers

Abstract:

Cable systems offer a high degree of passenger safety; they do not cause pollution and can, in a very flexible way, be adapted to the local conditions. They can be operated as reversible, circulating or network systems. The paper shows the reasons for these statements as well as the possibilities of using cables in the design of different types of installations.
