Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Hydraulics and Hydrology in the Small Computer Age

Abstract:

A project to develop a Water Resource Management Information (WATERMAIN) system was initiated. The WATERMAIN project identified a broad range of activities, including data collection, data analysis, operations planning, and data transfer, that could benefit from computer support. A unique minicomputer system was planned and acquired, and an 'evolutionary' approach for development and implementation of the software to support reservoir system operations was begun. Use of the minicomputer system has been exceptionally beneficial, providing better information on which operational decisions can be based.
