Abstract:

There has been a growing interest in renewable alternative sources of energy. An increasing effort is being directed towards the problem of extracting energy from the world's oceans, since the oceans represent a vast potential resource of renewable energy. This paper summarizes coastal and ocean resources for energy development and extraction techniques of the oceans' energy resources, namely, energy derived from ocean waves, tides, thermal gradients, and ocean currents.
