Abstract:

To provide guidance for the national marine pollution research and monitoring program, a workshop was held recently to identify and assign priorities to the marine pollution issues facing the U. S. This paper contains a summary of the overall results from this workshop. Sixty-five persons representing a broad spectrum of organizations concerned with marine pollution participated in the meeting. Seven criteria were accepted by the workshop for evaluating the marine pollution issues, and a paired comparison process was used to assign weights to these criteria.
